A Thousand Miles

English poetry Santiago Ospina poet author

One has walked

a thousand miles

through noise and silence;

through brawls and kisses;

On the shallow island

a heart beating in beauty

against traditions and conventions,

togetherness becomes precious;

One has walked

a thousand miles

throughout laughter and boredom;

throughout stillness and movement;

A company to share,

adventures away from home

a mountain in a forbidden stream

and cultures out of essence;

One has walked

a thousand miles

throughout nothingness and wholeness;

throughout existence in water and soil.
